There are several states that make up the Southeastern part of the United States. Each has a rich history that is distinctive.
Florida
Florida is a favorite wintertime getaway. Centuries old Cypress Gardens and swamps have changed little over the years. It is home to the Seminole Indians. There are modern day attractions such as Disney World, Daytona Beach, and lots of sun and water.
Alabama
In Alabama you can vacation in the mountains or play on the beaches. Alabama Music Hall of Fame is here. There are several natural wonders to visit such as DeSoto Caverns Park, Huntsville Botanical Gardens and several notable National Parks.
West Virginia
One of the first thirteen colonies, West Virginia became a state when it split from Virginia. The Appalachian Mountains are stunning. If you go deep enough into the mountains it seem time has passed over many of the small towns. Hunting and fishing are prime pastimes.
Virginia
Almost no state has played a more historic role in the history of the United States. From the landing of the pilgrims at Plymouth Rock to the Civil War it has always played an important part. Today it is home to major military bases. Visitors flock to its beaches every year.
Tennessee
Tennessee is the home of country music. Hopefuls flock to Nashville each year to be discovered. The Great Smoky Mountains are magnificent. The mighty Mississippi runs through the state. It is a great place to take the whole family.
Mississippi
Southern hospitality is still practiced in this southern state. Riverboat tours and cruises are a perfect way to explore Mississippi. Outdoor fun and a unique culture make Mississippi a special place to visit.
Louisiana
Jazz, gospel and swing music flow throughout Louisiana. Home to New Orleans, the French influence is still felt today. Crawfish stew, jambalaya and gumbo are standard fare.
Georgia
Home of the peach, Georgia has beaches, tidal marshlands and majestic mountains. Throw in southern history and the Southern way of life and you have a wonderful state to visit.
Kentucky
Horseracing and thoroughbreds are the trademark of Kentucky. Southern gentlemen still share mint juleps and bets on the latest hors.
North and South Carolina
Both states played major roles in the Civil War. In North Carolina the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains rise high in the background. There are beaches, water sports, Kitty Hawk and more in North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Mountains continue on into northern South Carolina. Lowcountry food and culture permeates coastal South Carolina and gives it a unique cultural as well as culinary flavor.
